Paulo Fernandez is an Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco. He is senior researcher at the Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development (MED) of the University of Évora and at the Associated Laboratory CHANGE – Global Change and Sustainability Institute. He is PhD in Territorial and Environmental Engineering (University of Évora), and holds an MSc in Geographic Information Systems (Instituto Superior Técnico – Lisbon Technical University) and a Bachelor in Biophysical Engineering (University of Évora).

He is the author and co-author of more than 100 publications in international journals, in book chapters and at international and national conferences.

His current research is focused on area of geomatics, spatial analysis applied to environment, sustainability, land use planning and natural hazards.
