In 1986, she obtained a graduation in Forestry – Forestry Production branch by the Instituto Superior de Agronomia – Technical University of Lisbon.

Immediately after, she starts working as a Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (IPCB).

In 1993, she obtained a Master degree in Plant Production (Forestry); and in 2004, a PhD degree in Forestry Engineering both at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia – Technical University of Lisbon. From 2004-2007 she has been a researcher at the Forestry Studies Center (CEF) of the Instituto Superior de Agronomia.

Since 2007, she became a researcher at the Natural Resources, Environment and Society Studies Center (CERNAS-IPCB).

Her main research work focuses on the areas of forest inventory and forest growth and production modelling, and afforestation planning and sustainable forest management.
